As a photographer I love exploring new locations for sessions and the Leila Arboretum in Battle Creek did not disappoint! Every where you looked had large beautiful trees, most of which were still in bloom because Michigan seemed to have a later than normal spring this year. The grass was a luscious green and the lighting during this family session was on point - creating beautiful light and airy images - my favorite!
Not only was the location beautiful, there’s no denying that, but what made this session one of my favorites was the family I got to photograph. The genuine and loving connection between each member of this family was remarkable to watch; hugs and kisses shared between Avaline and Ash, the way Avaline looked at her Daddy as they danced in the grass together, Ash and Daddy roaring like dinosaurs at the camera or Mom and Dad stealing away for a few minutes to get some long overdue shots of just the two of them, it was just the sweetest and made my job so easy! I love capturing the candid in-between moments, the ones that really showcase connection and tell a story - I hope you enjoy scrolling through some of my favorites from the session with the Lapham family.
